The group recently wrapped up their endeavors at the 2018 SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX. During the week of festivities arracting crowds from around the world, Big Wy's Performed on March 10th as part of the Empire Southboiled Showcase, March 13th as part of the Music Tech Mashup Showcase, and March 14th with a full second line procession including the world renowned Preservation Hall Jazz Band to celebrate the premiere of their new documentary, "A Tuba to Cuba."
CCCN Promising Artist Festival
Costa Rica 2017
Through their endeavors in Guatemala earlier in 2017, Big Wy's was extended an invitation to participate in the 2017 CCCN Promising Artist Festival in both San Jose and Limon, Costa Rica. Over the course of the week, the band had the opportunity to partner with the US Embassy to lead several masterclasses throughout the city, participate in the Afro-Descendants parade alongside the President of Costa Rica and a crowd of 10,000, and perform a sold-out show at Amon Solar, a popular jazz club in the city. The vibrant musical and cultural aspects of the trip allowed Big Wy's to further explore their sound with some of the country's best musicians.

2017 International Jazz Festival
Big Wy's Brass Band was the sole representative of the United States as a featured group for 1 week at the 2017 IGA International Jazz Festival. The Festival is a month-long event that brings in jazz and world music groups from around the globe. The festival included 13 participating countries, with every group touring the country and hosting workshops and concerts. Big Wy’s Brass Band led seven workshops and had the opportunity to perform in Guatemala City, GT and Antigua, GT.
Honk TX! International Brass Band Festival
HONK!TX is a nonprofit, community-driven festival that brings street and brass bands from around the country to perform for free in the public spaces of Austin, Texas. Mobile and unamplified, HONK! bands transform everyday locations into spontaneous stages, dissolving the line between crowd and performers and inviting everyone to celebrate the joys of music and community. A range of genres are represented: New Orleans second-line brass, European Klezmer and Balkan, Brazilian, West African and more. HONK! is a celebration of community, collaboration and creative expression. Big Wy's Brass Band has been performing at the Honk!TX brass band festival since 2015. "A Better Party" presented by EnviroMedia
Big Wy's Brass Band headlined the offical 2017 SXSW Environmedia "A Better Party" benefit event.
In March 2016, Big Wy Brass Band performed at two well-known Austin music venues for their SXSW showcases: Kick Butt Coffee Music and Booze who hosted their annual "Paperboat Records" unofficial showcase, and the "3rd Annual Hand Drawn Records Battle of The Bands" hosted by Brass House. Shorty after the band's prelims performance the owner announced Big Wy's Brass Band to be the clear winner for the evening, and that they would be opening for the finalist round of the competition at their unofficial SXSW showcase.

Louisiana Swamp Thing & Crawfish Festival
Big Wy's Brass Band has been performing at the Louisiana Swamp Thing Crawfish Festival hosted by the Austin Chronicle since 2013. The festival features live Louisiana music on two stages, though the Cajun food is the main attraction: boiled crawfish, gumbo, po'boys, and étouffée. Big Wy's Brass Band is known for marching through the festival and getting funky with the crowd. The band was introduced to the festival through The Austin Samba School which is the largest samba school in the united states.

Circuit of The Americas United States Grand Prix
In both 2016 and 2017, Big Wy's Brass Band took the stage in concert at the Circuit of The Americas. The band was invited by COTA to perform several sets across multiple stages. 24 other groups were selected in an effort to provide live music for the entirety of the second day of the United States Grand Prix. Other artists and entertainment groups performing that weekend were the legendary Stevie Wonder, 10-time Grammy winner and international superstar Taylor Swift, Usher, the Roots, The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, and The University of Texas Longhorn Band.
